Fidaldo Island offers incredible opportunities for photography. Washington Park, Deception Pass, Heart Lake, Mount Erie, Cap Sante, Padilla Bay, Guemes Island, Fidalgo Bay - the list goes on and on. Anacortes has an incredible amount of parklands, trails, and natural beauty.
Also, the ferry to the San Juan Islands leaves from the west end of Anacortes.
Anacortes Weather
http://www.idcide.com/weather/wa/anacortes.htmBecause Anacortes is surrounded by water, visitors will find it cooler than you might expect. Warm clothes (dressing in layers is recommended) are an important factor in enjoying the outdoors. Summer temperatures are typically in the 70s and 80s; fall temperatures in the 60s and 70s. Rain gear is a pretty good idea, too, just in case. We always have a wind jacket with us when we go out into the elements, especially near the water. Note that Anacortes is in the rain shadow of the Olympic range and receives less than half the rain that Seattle does. We're sort of in the banana belt as far as rain goes!
We will ask on your registration if you have any allergies to certain foods, medications or otherwise (such as bee stings). Since we will be providing the lunch meal we will take care that any allergies are accommodated. If you have any kind of medical condition or special needs that we should be aware of, please include this information on your registration.
